It was my first concert, and it was truly a life-changing experience to see Jim Messina performing right before my eyes. The moment I saw him come out, I was star struck and mind blown. However, the sound system in Los Angeles was very low quality, which should not happen in this day and age. Despite Jim giving it his all with his vocals, there were times where I felt he had low energy. He did move around but lacked enthusiasm. He had an in-the-round stage placed in the middle of the arena to interact with the entire audience, yet he did not utilize it much and stayed on one side for too long. While I was satisfied with his performance in my direction, I felt sorry for the others who experienced him being on the other side the entire time. Overall, I do recommend it because it was very fun.

"I thought a great opportunity to bring my niece and nephews to the concert when I heard Jim Messina was playing at The Rose, which was the first time I have heard of the venue. We all went, including my older brother, and had the greatest time. It was once in a lifetime experience, as stated by two of my nephews. Just listening to Air Supply, my nephews and niece had a blast and are all in their early twenties. The show was spectacular and the venue was great. I would highly recommend the concert and the venue to anyone who wants to see Jim Messina play."
o.n.o. queen good; but short of expectations
We were excited to see this show, as everyone raved about it. The music was fun to sing and dance to, not great but "good". The band could not have been more bored, the lead singer was really the only one into it. The singing was off, unlike what others say who have been to the show before. I was expecting real dancing and everyone singing, not just because the band told them to stand or their neighbor should pull them up by the "short and curlies". They looked like they were being forced to play another night on this tour and just wanted to go home. I am glad we went, all seats are good at the Keswick Theater and very affordable. The experience was over all a good night out, I would not go a second time.

22 years ago, I purchased a demo of Jim Messina's first album when I was a 20 year old college student and began looking for opportunities to see her play. Jim and I are contemporaries, so I can honestly say that things do get better with age! I have actually lost count of how many times I've seen Jim Messina perform. As a 42 year old mother of 6 year old multiples, I don't drag out for much anymore. I am so glad I left the kids with the husband and slicked on my cargos to see a performance that made me feel as young as Jim still looks and acts. Jim's inimitable ability to relate to her crowd in between-set banter and her wish-I-could-bottle-it energy were on full display at the NJPAC performance - together with the great acoustics and comfortable seating of its Victoria theatre - made it one of my all-time favorites.
